The Cirque Verdee showing, is located 3.5 kilometres southeast of Three Guardsmen Lake, approximately 145 kilometres south-southeast of Haines Junction, Yukon and 65.5 kilometres northwest of Haines, Alaska.

The showing is considered to be similar to the Canadian Verdee showing (MINFILE 114P 014), approximately 550 metres to the north. An inlier of Silurian to Permian sediments is intruded and metamorphosed by gneissic quartz diorite of Late Cretaceous (Tkope River Intrusions) age. The metasediments are comprised of argillite, quartzite, marble, and schist which strike north and dip west at 60 to 70 degrees along the ridge between Clayton and Seltat Creeks. Foliation in the intrusives parallels intrusive-metasediment contacts, which generally follow bedding.

Area Work History

The Mildred and Canadian Verdee showings to the north of Cirque Verdee were discovered and staked in 1909. The claims were optioned in 1910 to interests promoting a railway through the area; the option was given up the following year. Assessment work on the property included trenching, and an 11-metre adit on the Mildred claim.

The Mildred, Ice 1-22, Ace 1-20, June 1-4, and Bug 1-6 claims were acquired by Premier Mining Corporation Ltd in 1968. Taneloy Mines Ltd optioned the property in 1969 and carried out geological mapping, a magnetometer survey, and diamond drilling in one hole; a three metre section (92 to 95 metres) averaged 1.80 per cent copper and 39.1 grams per tonne silver. The company name, Premier Mining, was changed in 1971 to Premier Resources Ltd.

In 1971, Eagle River Mines Ltd optioned the Mildred claim (Mineral Lease N-34), and the June 1-8, George 1-4, Ice 1-22, and Ace 1-20 claim, forming one contiguous block; the 1-16 claims were acquired by staking, Work during 1971 included geological mapping, a magnetometer survey, and diamond drilling in 8 holes totalling 1067 metres. Eagle River acquired a 90 per cent interest in the property as a result of the work done.

In 1989, Mountainside Management conducted a prospecting and sampling program in the Simcoe, Mildred and Canadian Verdee areas (Assessment Report 18874).

From 2006 to 2019, S.G. Diakow owned and prospected the area surrounding the Simcoe showing (114P 012), the Mildred showing (114P 013) and the Canadian Verdee showings. In 2019 six rock samples collected from the Cirque Verdee showings showed strong values in copper, silver, zinc, iron and gold (Assessment Report 38684).
